The Mountain Island Lake Academy Middle School Art program will act as a bridge to elementary and high school. Its goal is to continue developing the students' creative abilities and instill an enthusiasm and appreciation of the visual arts. Creativity and self-expression is encouraged. Students build skills such as critical thinking and creative problem solving. Every opportunity will be used to make connections to other academic courses. Visual art can provide students with an opportunity to build confidence and self-esteem. The program will explore many artists, styles, media and technical skills. Activities in the program will include studio projects, reading, writing, collaboration activities, slide shows and videos. All activities count toward your grade.Each project will be designed to meet the needs of each grade level accordingly.
Ms. Gregg is the MILA ART 678 teacher and was born and raised in South Carolina. She received a Bachelors of Fine Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 1997 and a Masters of Fine Art from the University of Chicago in 2000. In 2007 she also received a Masters of Community Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Ms. Gregg has travelled to teach and create her own art in such nations as China, Germany, England and Nicaragua. Ms. Gregg is a painter and educator. Her work has been shown in galleries and museums throughout the southeast and abroad.
